The Campus Pulse project aims to mobilize students to take on active projects on their campuses and encourage existing liberal organizations and individuals to get involved in building a united force towards clean campus politics and ultimately campus governance. This initiative is a first of its kind effort to compile on-going efforts and reach out to 10 most buzzing campuses of India to carve out future leaders. The campus coordinators, along with the help of their mentors would do small but effective projects which would involve solving problems on the campus using liberal ideas from July-October. Coordinators will be encouraged to contest elections in campus or identify individuals for the same and write a snapshot report on status of campus governance and issues. With the mentor’s support, the coordinator will be responsible for starting a Liberal Youth Club or assessing the possibilities of the same.
As part of the project, ten coordinators and mentors were selected through a rigorous and competitive process. LYF members, the selected coordinators and mentors came together in New Delhi on 6-8 June for a rigorous three-day workshop-cum-orientation program.

The workshop provided deeper understanding on campus governance issues from a liberal perspective; enhanced practical skills in planning, implementing and evaluating campus programs and provided a platform for youth to present their work and learn from each other.  Though the LYF Core group were the key facilitators, expert resource persons were invited to share their experiences, including Ms Meenakshi Natarajan (Member of Parliament from Mandsaur), Dr. Anjana N. Dev (senior faculty member in the English Department at Gargi College, University of Delhi), Mr Saurabh Sharma ( Founder, Joint Action for Social Help-JOSH) and Dr. Parth J. Shah (Centre for Civil Society).

At the end of the workshop, the coordinators presented their action plans for the next five months to launch this project on their campuses.  Post this workshop, LYF will provide support in terms of guidance and resources for the coordinators and mentors.  Each team is expected to jointly work towards effective projects to solve campus problems using liberal solutions, contest elections in campus or identify individuals for the same, write a snapshot report on status of campus governance issues and start a Liberal Youth Club on campus.
